Candlestick
A chart element summarising open, high, low and close for one period.
Each candlestick condenses a fixed slice of time into four prices. The body spans open to close and shows direction and conviction; the upper and lower wicks mark the extremes reached inside the period.
A long body with small wicks indicates one side controlled the whole period. A small body with long wicks on both sides indicates the market travelled in both directions and settled near where it began — indecision rather than direction.
