Scalping

Taking many very short trades for a handful of pips each.

Scalping targets small moves over seconds to minutes, relying on high trade frequency rather than large individual gains. It demands fast execution, tight spreads and near-total concentration during the session.

It is also the style most punished by costs: when the target is five pips, a one-pip spread is twenty percent of the objective before slippage. Most scalping strategies that look profitable in a costless backtest are negative once realistic costs are subtracted.
