Memilih timeframe

Pasar yang sama terlihat seperti tiga pasar berbeda di tiga grafik berbeda. Pilih satu dengan sengaja.

7 menit baca·Grafik & Eksekusi·2 pertanyaan kuis di akhir

A currency pair does not have one shape; it has as many shapes as there are timeframes. On a one-minute chart EUR/USD can look like a violent downtrend while the daily chart shows a calm, weeks-long climb. Neither chart is lying. They are answering different questions, and a huge share of beginner confusion comes from asking one chart a question only another can answer.

Timeframe determines three practical things: how often you will trade, how wide your stops must be, and how much of your day the market will occupy. Lower timeframes produce many signals, tight stops, and heavy exposure to spread and noise. Higher timeframes produce few signals, wider stops in pips, and far less screen time. Neither is superior — but they demand different temperaments and different account sizes.

The working habit most traders settle on is top-down analysis. Start on a higher timeframe — the daily or four-hour — to decide the context: is this market trending, ranging, or fighting a level? Then drop to a lower timeframe — the one-hour or fifteen-minute — only to time the entry inside that context. The higher chart says what to do; the lower chart says when.

The higher chart says what to do. The lower chart says when. Confusing the two is the most expensive beginner habit there is.

Be honest about your life when you choose. If you can only look at the market twice a day, a five-minute strategy is not a strategy, it is a fantasy that will be executed badly. Choose the slowest timeframe that still gives you enough trades to stay engaged, then stay on it long enough to learn its rhythm. Switching charts every time you lose is the surest way to learn nothing at all.

Poin penting

Higher timeframes set the context, lower timeframes time the entry. Pick a pair of charts that fits the hours you genuinely have, and stay there long enough to learn them.
