By the black belt the technical gap between you and a professional is smaller than the structural one. Professionals have a routine: a fixed pre-session preparation, defined trading hours, a post-session log, a weekly review and a monthly statistics pass. It is unremarkable and it is the entire difference, because it produces consistent behaviour on days when you do not feel like it.

A workable pre-session block takes fifteen minutes. Check the economic calendar for scheduled releases in your hours. Review open positions and their invalidation levels. Mark the levels you care about on your pairs. State your maximum risk for the day and the conditions under which you will stop. Then begin — with the decisions already made rather than being improvised against a moving price.

The post-session block is shorter. Complete journal entries while the reasoning is still accurate, screenshot the charts, and write one sentence about execution quality. Then close the platform. Traders who leave charts open after their session hours are not gathering information; they are extending the window in which an unplanned trade can occur.

The traders still here in ten years are rarely the most brilliant. They are the ones who made trading survivable and then kept showing up.

Weekly and monthly reviews carry different questions. Weekly is behavioural: did I follow the plan, which rules broke, what will I do differently in five specific words. Monthly is statistical: expectancy by setup, R distribution, worst run, whether any rule change is justified by sample size rather than mood. Keep them separate — mixing them turns statistics into self-criticism and behaviour into rationalisation.

Finally, build the rest of the life that supports it. Sleep, a capital base you are not depending on this month, and an income that does not require the account to perform — these change trading decisions more than any indicator will. The traders still here in ten years are rarely the most brilliant; they are the ones who made trading survivable and then simply kept showing up.

Điểm chính

Fifteen minutes of pre-session prep, a same-day journal, a behavioural weekly review and a statistical monthly review. Structure, not motivation, is what carries a trader past year one.
